For over 10 years i spent the vast majority of my time playing drums in a band. We traveled all over Australia playing shows, many with some of my favourite bands from all over the world.
When we decided to put the band to bed i felt massive void for creativity and realistically having something to obsess over. I have always had an interest in photography and now after the band i finally had the time to put into learning an experimenting with photography. The thing that was initially the most appealing about taking photos was that unlike playing in the band i could do it whenever it was i wanted and it was something i could do alone.
A friend of mine called Dan Kish came to stay with me and along with him brought his collection of vintage 35mm cameras. During his visit i got to see him use them as well as hearing the reasons why he enjoyed shooting film rather over digital. After his return to Sydney i thought i would give it a try for myself so i purchased my first 35mm, a Pentax K1000. Since that day i have tried to take my camera most places with me, take photos everyday and have also acquired quite a few more 35mm cameras along the way.
